Wordpress- The Ultimate CMS

Posted on July 22nd, 2008 by Rick Maggio

I’ve been working in web marketing for about 6 years now and I’ve been glued to a computer my whole life. In the beginning, I remember using notepad to build my first website. When Microsoft Word came around, I thought I was in heaven using a visual editor for the first time. Now, there are more tools that I’d like to count that enable average Schmos and web experts alike launch stable websites and applications without having to reinvent the wheel.

Some of the most popular content management solutions today include:

I’ve had the opportunity to work with many of these and also to work with many custom-built content management systems. Most are pretty good as each solution seems to have its pluses and minuses.

It’s my opinion that there is no better solution for a CMS than WordPress for most web projects. When I say most web projects, I’m referring to most smaller-scale projects. Examples may be things like corporate identity websites, blogs, small to medium-sized business websites, online magazines, etc. I accept the fact that eCommerce and specialty web apps typically require a more robust solution. For the majority of us, the out of the box WordPress CMS is more than enough. If it’s not, there are hundred add-ons that can get you where you want to go.

The most important part to me is not only that WordPress will get you there, but that WordPress will get you there in a search engine friendly manner. In future posts, I’ll expand upon this and many other topics of interested related to the internet marketing.

So, for my first blog post, I thought I’d give a should out to the folks at WordPress. I’ve been using WordPress in one way or another for many years and will continue to until they fall behind the times (or start charging). In addition, I’d like to give a shout out to Justin Tadlock, whom I’ve never met but designed this wordpress theme for this website the OS way, with no cost to me.

Cheers.
